NSW - Eastern Riverina Regional Revegetation

Your registration helps four Landcare networks around Albury undertake a highly efficient program of extensive plantings of indigenous bushland species along creeks, ridges, wetlands and boundaries on numerous rural properties. Since 2004 these networks have utilised eTree funding to plant 830 hectares of new bushland. The networks negotiate with landowners, ensure sites are fenced and prepared, and then oversee a major planting program each winter and spring using small manoeuvrable planting machines. This has great benefits to bird and mammal populations, reduces salinity and improves water quality in local streams.

Holbrook Rebirding Project

NSW - Lachlan Wetlands Project

Through the regional community, Landcare groups and Lachlan Catchment Management Authority, local wetlands are being protected and restored in central western New South Wales. The first projects are on the fringe of Forbes on the Lachlan River floodplain, and around Wet Lagoon at Breadalbane.

Macquarie Marshes

QLD - South East Queensland Catchments Project

Funds generated in Queensland support revegetation by South East Queensland Catchments, which covers the basins of the Brisbane, Logan, Stanley, Maroochy and Pine Rivers. Sites are chosen to improve wildlife habitat, streamside vegetation and regional aesthetics, help control weeds and conserve soil.

Western Catchment Project

QLD - Lockyer Wetlands Project

The 55 or so wetlands in the Lockyer valley, which is centred on Gatton, form one of the richest areas for birds in southern Queensland. South East Queensland Catchments is working with the regional community to protect and enhance this superb habitat. Fencing and replanting are the major activities to rehabilitate vegetation and restore bird habitat.

Lockyer Wetlands Project

VIC - Grow West

Grow West is centred on steep, eroded and weed-infested land around Bacchus Marsh, 70 kilometres west of Melbourne, aiming to create 10 000 hectares of new forest and woodland over the next 15-20 years to link three national parks, control weeds and reduce erosion and salinity.

Grow West Project

VIC - Lake Mokoan Wetlands Project

Landcare groups are revegetating sections of the extensive shoreline and surrounds of Lake Mokoan, linking these areas with nearby woodland remnants and corridors. (Originally known as Winton Swamp, Lake Mokoan, an irrigation storage near Benalla, is being re-engineered as a local water supply and wetland.)

ACT - South-West Slopes

Funds generated from the Australian Capital Territory help Greening Australia ACT and South East NSW, working with the community and landowners, to restore traditional pastoral landscapes, including woodlands and wetlands, in the Yass-Canberra-Monaro region. Direct seeding techniques are employed very successfully to create broad belts of trees along creeks, roads, ridges and property boundaries, and to recconnect remnants of bushland.

Holbrook Rebirding Project

ACT - Regional Wetlands Project

Working with the community and landowners, Greening Australia ACT and SE NSW co-ordinates wetlands restoration works in the Yass-Boorowa-Canberra-Monaro region. Most projects involve fencing and planting subtstantial areas around large farm dams to create new focal and diverse wetlands.

SA - Lower Murray Revegetation Project

Landcare Australia directs eTree funds to Goolwa-Wellington Local Action Planning Board Inc in South Australia. Based at Strathalbyn, this community body manages a wide range of projects in the lower Murray region and Mount Lofty Ranges, including Ramsar wetlands around Lake Alexandrina, Hindmarsh Island and the mouth of the Murray.

Land Action Project

SA - Lower Murray Ramsar Wetlands Project

The Goolwa to Wellington Local Action Planning Board Inc is helping restore Ramsar wetlands around Lake Alexandrina, Hindmarsh Island and the mouth of the Murray.

WA - Fitzgerald Biosphere Reserve Project

Located between Albany and Esperance, and with over 100 kilometres of coastline, Fitzgerald Biosphere Reserve is internationally recognised (UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Project) for its biodiversity – the richness of its flora and fauna. Landcare groups carry out extensive revegetation works on bordering private land to enhance the reserve’s conservation values.

Fitzgerald Biosphere Reserve Project

WA - Fitzgerald Biosphere Reserve Wetlands Project

Funds generated through eTree will support Landcare networks to restore wetlands within and around the Fitzgerald Biosphere Reserve.

Fitzgerald Biosphere Reserve Wetlands Project

NT - Katherine River Recovery Project

Funds from eTree participants go to the Katherine River Rescue, managed by Greening Australia, which restores forest, woodlands and wetlands along this famed Top End river.

Todd River Catchment Project

NT - Katherine River Wetlands Recovery Project

Wetlands along the Katherine River are being restored and protected by Greening Australia NT, local Landcare groups and the Katherine community, in conjunction with Katherine River Rescue.

TAS - Tamar Biolinks Project

Landcare groups around Launceston use funds generated by eTree to link existing areas of remnant native vegetation, increase habitat for iconic native species and create shelterbelts to stop erosion and reduce the threat of salinity.

Tasmania Biolinks Projects

TAS - Tamar Wetlands Projects

Landcare groups in the Tamar Valley will restore regional wetlands.

Tasmanian Wetlands Project

NZ - Ti Kouka Project

One of New Zealand’s most widely distributed plants is the very long-lived and fire-resistant Cordyline australis – Ti Kouka or cabbage tree. This species is dying out in the New Zealand countryside because stock graze any sprouts or seedlings that emerge. Funds generated through eTree support a national campaign based in Hawkes Bay to restore this iconic species. Landcarers undertake rolling programs of new plantings, protecting the trees from stock with re-useable electric fences.

Ti Kouka project

NZ - Ti Kouka Wetlands Project

As the cabbage trees grows in the wetlands of the Ti Kouka region of New Zealand, wetland management will be a focal point of project work in this area.
